Grilled Tri-Tip Steak with Tiger Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds tri-tip steak
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Chinese five spice seasoning (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons sriracha sauce
  • â…” cup teriyaki sauce
  • â…“ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (or garlic chili sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice, or more to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons lime juice, garlic, five spice (if using), and 2 teaspoons sriracha to make the marinade.
  2. Add tri-tip steak, toss to coat, cover, and marinate for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, make the tiger sauce by stirring together mayo and 1 tablespoon sriracha. Add lime juice and stir; thin with water if needed for a drizzling consistency.
  4. Preheat grill to high heat. Remove steak from marinade (discard marinade) and sear 2 minutes per side.
  5. Reduce grill heat to medium and continue cooking 8-10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  6. Remove steak from grill and let rest 5 minutes.
  7. Slice across the grain and drizzle with teriyaki sauce and tiger sauce. Serve immediately.
