🇮🇳 India

Servings: 50 pieces Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 45 minutes Total: 2 hours 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups wheat flour
  • 1 cup milk powder, unsweetened
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ½ cup warm milk, for kneading
  • oil, for frying
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 pods cardamom
  • 2 cups water

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mix wheat flour, milk powder, and baking powder.
  2. Add ghee and mix until the flour becomes moist.
  3. Add warm milk and knead into a smooth, soft dough, adding more milk as needed.
  4. Roll the dough to a slightly thick sheet.
  5. Cut into small circles using a bottle cap.
  6. Fry the circles in hot oil on low flame, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
  7. Drain the fried pieces to remove excess oil and set aside.
  8. In a large vessel, combine sugar, cardamom pods, and water.
  9. Boil the mixture for 2 minutes until the syrup turns sticky, without reaching one-string consistency.
  10. Pour the hot sugar syrup over the fried pieces, ensuring they are fully dipped.
  11. Let the pieces soak in the syrup for 2 hours or until they absorb it completely.
  12. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve.
