Chinese Steamed Egg

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup warm water (or milk or stock)
  • 1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce
  • chopped scallion (optional)

Steps

  1. Gently whisk eggs with a pinch of salt and the warm water.
  2. Strain the egg mixture into a container, removing any bubbles from the surface.
  3. Set up a steamer and bring the water to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer. Steam for 8 to 10 minutes, depending on the container size.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Drizzle with sesame oil and light soy sauce, then garnish with chopped scallion.
  6. Serve warm.

Notes

Steaming time may vary depending on the size and depth of the container used.
