Vietnamese Coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá)
🇻🇳 Vietnam
Ingredients
- 4 tsp Vietnamese coffee (Cafe Du Monde or Trung Nguyen)
- 2 tsp condensed milk
- 1 cup boiling water
Steps
- Boil water.
- Preheat the phin filter and cup by pouring a bit of boiling water through them.
- Remove the metal press insert and add the coffee grounds to the filter.
- Place the press insert back on top, twisting gently until snug.
- Pour a small amount of water into the filter to wet the grounds and let them expand.
- Fill the filter with the remaining water and let it drip, about 3-5 minutes; adjust the press tightness if it drips too fast or too slow.
- Add condensed milk to the cup (about 1-3 tsp depending on preferred sweetness), either before or after brewing.
- For iced coffee, let the brewed coffee cool slightly, then pour over a glass filled with ice.
Notes
Adjust condensed milk to taste; adding it before brewing slightly changes the flavor since it's cooked by the hot water.
