Pork and Cabbage Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless pork loin, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 8 oz green cabbage (or Napa cabbage), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili paste
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock

Steps

  1. Cut pork into thin strips, about 2 by 1 inch and 1/8 inch thick, pounding first if needed.
  2. Toss pork with 1 tsp cornstarch, soy sauce, salt, and white pepper. Cover and refrigerate 15 minutes.
  3. Cut cabbage into bite-sized pieces, green onions into 2-inch pieces, and bell peppers into 1-inch pieces.
  4. Mix 2 tsp cornstarch with water and set aside.
  5. Heat a wok over high heat, add oil, and coat the sides.
  6. Add marinated pork and garlic, and cook until pork is no longer pink.
  7. Add cabbage and bell peppers, stir-fry briefly, then cover and cook 2 minutes.
  8. Add chili paste and chicken stock, stirring until boiling.
  9. Add cornstarch mixture and stir until sauce thickens.
  10. Toss in green onions and serve immediately.
