🇭🇺 Hungary

Servings: 4 Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 30 minutes Total: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200 g frankfurter sausages
  • Oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large potato
  • 400 g savoy cabbage
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 0.5 tsp ground caraway
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 200 ml sour cream

Steps

  1. Slice the sausages into rounds. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Peel and dice the potato. Halve the cabbage, remove the core, and shred it.
  2. Heat a little oil in a pot and fry the sausage slices. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add a bit more oil to the pot and sauté the onion until translucent. Add the garlic, then after a few minutes add the potato and cabbage. Cook until the cabbage softens.
  4. Season with marjoram, caraway, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add about 1.5 liters of water and simmer covered until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Mix the sour cream with the flour until smooth. Stir in a ladle of the hot soup, then pour this mixture back into the simmering soup. Stir and simmer for a few more minutes.
  6. Return the fried sausage slices to the soup and serve hot.
