Lángos with Sour Cream and Cheese

Ingredients
- 200 ml milk
- 1 tsp sugar
- 30 g fresh yeast
- 500 g flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 200 ml water
- Oil, for frying
- Salt, for topping
- Sour cream, for topping
- Cheese, grated, for topping
- Garlic, optional, for topping
Steps
- Warm the milk slightly. In a glass, mix the sugar with the crumbled yeast, pour in half of the warm milk, cover, and let it foam up.
- In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the oil, the foamed yeast mixture, the remaining milk, and a little warm water.
- Mix, gradually adding the water, until a medium-soft dough forms. Knead the dough, place it in a bowl, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
- Oil a tray. With oiled hands, tear off small portions of dough and place them spaced apart on the tray. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise again for about 30 minutes, until puffy.
- Heat plenty of oil in a pan. Stretch and shape each piece of dough with oiled hands, then fry in the hot oil for about 1 minute per side until golden brown.
- Drain the fried dough and place on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve sprinkled with salt, spread with sour cream, and topped with grated cheese. Optionally, rub with garlic before serving.
