Krumplis Lángos (Hungarian Potato Fried Bread)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 250-300 g flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • oil, for frying

Steps

  1. Peel and cube the potatoes.
  2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft.
  3. Drain and let cool completely.
  4. Mash the cooled potatoes with a potato ricer.
  5. Knead in enough flour to form a dough.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to 3-5 mm thickness.
  7. Cut into pieces of desired size.
  8. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.

Notes

Serve as a main dish with sour cream and onions or yogurt, as a side dish with roasts and stews, or as a dessert with plum jam.
