Ingredients
- 5 peaches, sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- ground cinnamon, for sprinkling
Steps
- Combine sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat a few minutes until sugar dissolves and peaches release their juices. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice butter into a 9x13 inch baking dish and place in the oven while it preheats to melt. Remove once melted.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the baking dish over the melted butter and smooth into an even layer.
- Spoon the peaches and their juice over the batter. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon.
- Bake at 350°F for 38-40 minutes. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.
Notes
If using canned peaches, skip the cooking step and add them directly over the batter.
