🇺🇸 United States · Southern United States

Servings: 9 Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 40 minutes Total: 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5 peaches, sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ground cinnamon, for sprinkling

Steps

  1. Combine sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat a few minutes until sugar dissolves and peaches release their juices. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice butter into a 9x13 inch baking dish and place in the oven while it preheats to melt. Remove once melted.
  4. In a large bowl, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in milk until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the baking dish over the melted butter and smooth into an even layer.
  6. Spoon the peaches and their juice over the batter. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 38-40 minutes. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.

Notes

If using canned peaches, skip the cooking step and add them directly over the batter.
