Chocolate Hummus (Brownie Batter Hummus)

Ingredients

  • 3 oz dark chocolate (60-70%), chopped
  • 1 (15.5 oz) can chickpeas, drained
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1/3 cup honey (or powdered sugar)
  • 3 tbsp Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp espresso powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 2-4 tbsp milk of choice, as needed
  • Strawberry, banana, or apple slices, for serving
  • Pretzels, for serving
  • Graham crackers, for serving
  • Vanilla wafers, for serving
  • Rice cake chips, for serving

Steps

  1. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-30 second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  2. Add chickpeas, tahini, honey, cocoa powder, espresso powder (if using), vanilla, salt, and melted chocolate to a food processor or blender.
  3. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, blending until the mixture is smooth and scoopable like a soft frosting.
  5. Taste and adjust with more honey for sweetness or a pinch of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl. Optionally top with mini chocolate chips or a drizzle of melted chocolate and flaky sea salt.
  7. Serve with fruit, pretzels, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or rice cake chips.
