Homemade Waffle Cones

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ United States

Servings: 10 cones Prep: 5 minutes Cook: 20 minutes Total: 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips, optional, to plug bottom of cone

Steps

  1. Preheat waffle cone maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Whisk eggs and sugars together in a medium bowl until combined.
  3. Add flour and salt; stir to combine.
  4. Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla; stir until combined. Let batter rest 10 minutes, adding 1-2 tablespoons extra milk if too thick.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle cone maker before first use.
  6. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter onto the waffle cone maker and spread into a small circle.
  7. Close lid and cook about 2 minutes until golden, checking for doneness.
  8. Immediately remove the waffle and shape it around the cone roller, using a paper towel to protect your hands from the heat. Hold in place a few seconds to set the shape.
  9. Optional: press a few chocolate chips into the bottom of the warm cone to plug it and prevent leaks.
  10. Place cone in a holder or cooling rack to cool. Repeat with remaining batter.
