Lobster Roll

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cooked lobster meat
  • 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 celery rib, finely diced (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • ½ tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chives
  • 1 dash hot sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 New England-style split top buns (or hot dog buns)
  • lettuce leaves (optional, for serving)

Steps

  1. Drain lobster meat and pat dry. Cut into chunky pieces if needed.
  2. In a bowl, combine celery, mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, chives, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add lobster meat and toss to coat, warming for about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove lobster with a slotted spoon and add to the bowl with the dressing. Toss gently to coat.
  5. Wipe skillet clean and melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Dip both flat sides of buns in melted butter and toast in the pan until golden.
  6. Open buns, add a lettuce leaf if desired, then fill with lobster mixture. Garnish with chives and serve immediately.
