Homemade Lemonade

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups water (for syrup)
- 12 lemons, juiced (about 2 1/2 cups)
- 1 lemon, sliced, for serving
- 4 cups water (approx, to dilute)
- Ice, for serving
- 1 cup raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, or sliced strawberries (optional)
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, heat sugar with 3 cups water over medium heat until sugar dissolves, 5 to 7 minutes.
- Transfer syrup to a heatproof container and refrigerate until cool, about 40 minutes.
- Chill the lemon juice if time allows.
- Pour lemon juice into a large pitcher or beverage dispenser.
- Add about 3 cups of the cooled syrup (roughly three-quarters of the total).
- Fill the pitcher with ice, then add about 4 cups water.
- Stir and taste; add more syrup for sweetness or more water to dilute as needed.
- Serve immediately in ice-filled glasses, garnished with lemon slices.
- Optionally, add berries to the lemonade before serving for different flavors.
