Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons dill pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 6 brioche hamburger buns
- Romaine or shredded lettuce
- Sliced tomato
- Sliced red onion
- Dill pickle chips
Steps
- Make the burger sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, ketchup, dill pickle relish, and Dijon mustard in a small bowl. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper; mix until just combined.
- Gently form the mixture into 6 patties, about 1 inch thick and slightly larger than the buns.
- Heat canola oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook patties in batches, about 3-5 minutes per side, until charred and cooked to desired doneness.
- Top each patty with a slice of cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Serve immediately on hamburger buns with burger sauce and desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
