Burger Beans (Baked Beans with Ground Beef)

Ingredients
- 1 7-oz. can sliced pickled jalapeños
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 28-oz. can baked beans
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp yellow mustard
Steps
- Drain the pickled jalapeños, reserving 1 Tbsp of the brine; set both aside separately.
- Heat vegetable oil in a medium skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add bell pepper and garlic; cook, stirring often, until fragrant and pepper begins to soften, 1-2 minutes.
- Add ground beef, salt, and black pepper; cook, breaking up meat with a spoon, until beginning to brown, 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in baked beans, ketchup, garlic powder, yellow mustard, and reserved jalapeño brine.
- Simmer, stirring occasionally, until bubbling and thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving dish and top with reserved pickled jalapeños.
