Burger Beans (Baked Beans with Ground Beef)

Ingredients

  • 1 7-oz. can sliced pickled jalapeños
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 28-oz. can baked beans
  • 3 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp yellow mustard

Steps

  1. Drain the pickled jalapeños, reserving 1 Tbsp of the brine; set both aside separately.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a medium skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  3. Add bell pepper and garlic; cook, stirring often, until fragrant and pepper begins to soften, 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef, salt, and black pepper; cook, breaking up meat with a spoon, until beginning to brown, 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in baked beans, ketchup, garlic powder, yellow mustard, and reserved jalapeño brine.
  6. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until bubbling and thickened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and top with reserved pickled jalapeños.
