Basic Boiled Rice

Ingredients

  • 240 g long-grain rice (e.g. basmati, jasmine, parboiled, or whole grain)
  • 1.5 liters water
  • 1 tsp salt

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice in a sieve under cold water until desired clarity is reached.
  2. Put the rinsed rice into a pot with 1.5 liters of water and 1 tsp salt. Stir once.
  3. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered over medium heat for about 15 minutes (rice can foam up due to proteins, so avoid covering).
  4. Check if the rice is tender after 15 minutes, then drain in a sieve.
