Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Whisk together the egg, milk, and 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mince the onion.
  5. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg mixture, breadcrumb mixture, and minced onion. Mix by hand until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  6. Shape the mixture into a loaf about 4 inches wide, 8 inches long, and 2 inches tall on a rimmed baking dish.
  7. Stir together ketchup, brown sugar, remaining Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to make the glaze.
  8. Spread the glaze evenly over the top and sides of the meatloaf.
  9. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165ºF.
  10. Let rest for 5-10 minutes, then slice and serve.
