Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • A dash of salt

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Melt butter, then add chocolate and mix until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar together.
  4. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and mix well.
  5. Mix in the flour and salt.
  6. Pour batter into two prepared ramekins and bake for 11 minutes, until edges are set but center is still wiggly.
  7. Let cool for a minute, then flip onto serving plates. Garnish with whipped cream or powdered sugar, and serve with fruit or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Baking time is critical for achieving a molten center; do not overbake.
