Homemade Coconut Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 large coconut
  • Water, enough to cover coconut meat

Steps

  1. Pierce the soft eye of the coconut with a skewer and drain out the water.
  2. Smash the coconut open with a hammer.
  3. Remove the coconut meat from the shell using a flat, dull knife.
  4. Wash the coconut meat, then add it to a blender with enough water to cover it. Blend until smooth, working in batches if needed.
  5. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth to extract the milk.

Notes

Amount of water used affects the richness and yield of the milk.
