Juicy Lucy (Cheese Stuffed Burgers)

🇺🇸 United States · Minnesota

Servings: 4 Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 10 minutes Total: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 or 85/15)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 6 slices American cheese, quartered
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 12 pickle slices

Steps

  1. Combine ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions (about 3 oz each) and form into balls.
  3. Flatten each ball between parchment paper or plastic wrap using the bottom of a heavy skillet to form 8 thin patties.
  4. Arrange 4 quartered cheese slices in a fan shape on top of one patty, leaving space around the edges. Top with a second patty and pinch edges together to seal in the cheese.
  5. Heat oil in a medium iron skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add patties and cook without moving for 3 minutes.
  6. Flip the patties and cook for another 3 minutes on the other side.
  7. Transfer burgers to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes. Toast the buns in the same skillet while burgers rest.
  8. Serve the burgers on toasted buns with pickle slices and desired toppings.

Notes

Be careful when biting into these burgers as the melted cheese center can be very hot.
