Chicken Dry Rub

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1½ teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1½ teaspoons ground sage
  • ½ tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Steps

  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a small bowl or jar.
  2. Store tightly covered in a cool place until ready to use.
  3. Sprinkle generously and evenly over whole chicken or chicken parts, coating well.
  4. Let chicken rest with the rub for about 30 minutes before cooking.
