🇪🇸 Spain

Servings: 4 Prep: 15 minutes Cook: 2 hours (chilling) Total: 2 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 (750ml) bottle Spanish red wine
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • 1 peach
  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 cup Spanish brandy
  • 1 cup orange juice, not from concentrate
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Steps

  1. Thinly slice the orange and lemon; add half of each to a pitcher and reserve the rest.
  2. Cut the peach and apple into small cubes; add all the peach and half the apple cubes to the pitcher, reserving the rest.
  3. Add the brandy, orange juice, and sugar to the pitcher.
  4. Press down on the fruit with a wooden spoon to release juices, then mix well.
  5. Pour in the red wine and add the cinnamon stick; stir to combine.
  6. Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 2 hours to let the flavors develop.
  7. Toss the reserved apple cubes with a little lemon juice to prevent browning, then refrigerate with the other reserved fruit.
  8. Before serving, stir the sangria. Fill glasses with ice, add reserved apple cubes, and pour in the sangria.
  9. Garnish each glass with a slice of orange and lemon, then serve.

Notes

A young Rioja wine is recommended for the best flavor.
