Stuffed Bell Peppers

🇺🇸 United States

Servings: 6 Prep: 20 minutes Cook: 1 hour Total: 1 hour 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 green bell peppers
  • 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring rice and water to a boil in a saucepan, then reduce heat, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  4. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Slice off the bottoms if needed so they stand upright, then arrange them hollow-side up in a baking dish.
  5. In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, browned beef, one can of tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Fill each pepper with the beef and rice mixture.
  7. Mix the remaining can of tomato sauce with the Italian seasoning and pour it over the stuffed peppers.
  8. Bake for 1 hour, basting each pepper with sauce every 15 minutes, until the peppers are tender.
