Stuffed Bell Peppers
🇺🇸 United States
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice
- 1 cup water
- 6 green bell peppers
- 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring rice and water to a boil in a saucepan, then reduce heat, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.
- Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Slice off the bottoms if needed so they stand upright, then arrange them hollow-side up in a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, browned beef, one can of tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Fill each pepper with the beef and rice mixture.
- Mix the remaining can of tomato sauce with the Italian seasoning and pour it over the stuffed peppers.
- Bake for 1 hour, basting each pepper with sauce every 15 minutes, until the peppers are tender.
